The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices recently launched but there are already some customers who have reported problems with their devices.
Last week, the hashtag #flickergate trended alongside with the Pixel 6 name. This is because several customers reported experiencing a display bug on their Pixel 6 Pro. Apparently, the bug caused the screen to flicker when the power key is pressed to switch on the device.
Not one to sit out on this issue, Google has acknowledged the issue and even raised a ticket on its Community Support pages.
The company revealed that the display residual light problem experienced by device users is noticed when “they press on the power button with slight pressure but not enough to turn it on.”
Google also suggests these temporary fixes to take care of the issue:
To avoid seeing this, when the power is off, do not cycle the power button
When you want to use the phone, hold the power button down long enough to turn it on
According to the tech giant, the issue is not a hardware issue. Since it is a software problem, it will be fixed in the next security update; which is expected to be released in December.
