Nowadays, upgrading your phone can easily be done thanks to the option of trading in an older device; even Apple accepts trade-ins for Android devices. But according to a report, Apple’s trade-in values for such devices have significantly dropped.
As reported by MacRumors, Apple has reduced the value of almost every Android device it accepts for trade-ins. Android Authority has shared some examples of just how much Apple’s trade-in values have dropped:
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus - Previous trade-in value $435, Current trade-in value: $325
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra - Previous trade-in value: $545, Current trade-in value: $405
They have also listed down the full list of the new trade-in values of Android devices. You can check that out here.
Also, it seems like smartphone trade-ins aren’t the only ones affected by this decision. Apple has also reduced the trade-in values on its MacBooks, iMacs, iPads, and other products. In addition to this, Apple is now encouraging students to provide proof of their education status so they can get a discount on their products.
The report doesn’t explain why Apple has made such a drastic change. But nevertheless, a discount is a discount; especially for those who are looking to upgrade their devices.
