Finally, the newest version of Google’s Android mobile operating system is landing on two of Samsung’s latest flagship devices. As reported by SamMobile, Android Oreo is now being rolled out to Galaxy S8 units, and as a matter of fact, owners of the model are now installing the Android version in the German mobile market.
Just to be clear, the Android Oreo update deployment will most likely hit Galaxy S8 users in Germany who have signed up as beta testers for Oreo. Regular owners of the device should then receive the newest version any hour now. It should be noted that the roll out is being done by mobile market -- as a major Android market, Germany is one of the first countries to get Oreo, but as for mobile users based in other nations, all they can do is check their device’s Settings from time to time for a new update.
Google had officially announced Android Oreo back in August of last year, but as everybody already knows, any new version of the mobile platform typically takes some time to arrive on Android smartphones and tablet devices. The sole exception, of course, are Google’s own Pixel devices, which instantly get updated. As for users of Android phones of other make or model, they are expected to wait until the manufacturer of their device, and the mobile operator their unit is tied to, is finished with their own respective tests.
Thus, adoption of Android 8.0 Oreo and Android 8.1 Oreo is still a bit limited, with just 1.1 percent of all Android mobile users already experiencing what Oreo can offer. In terms of new functionalities, the latest version delivers picture in picture mode, auto fill, and battery power management tools. One of the great things about Android Oreo hitting Galaxy S8 devices is that it will also bring Samsung’s own interface -- Samsung Experience 9.0.
As for owners of other Galaxy devices, if they are not sure whether their device will get Android Oreo, see the list below for the models expected to get the update:
