Whoa. It turns out there was a secret fourth new color for the Essential Phone. Earlier this week, Essential had revealed that it was introducing three new limited edition colors of its flagship device. These colors are Copper Black, Ocean Depths, and Stellar Gray. The Ocean Depths color option is actually already made available by way of Essential’s official website. As for the Stellar Gray and Copper Black versions, they are coming on February 20th and February 22nd, respectively. Well, a fourth new color -- Halo Gray -- is also being offered, but this particular variant will be sold exclusively at Amazon.
Not many people may realize this but Amazon does not only serve as a sales channel partner for Essential, but also as an investor of the mobile brand. So having Amazon offer a special limited edition Halo Gray version of the Essential Phone seems like a sensible idea. The Halo Gray Essential Phone can now be preordered from Amazon for a discounted price of $449.99 (originally at $699.99). The device will start shipping on February 21st.
The Halo Gray variant is a bit similar to the Stellar Gray version, and both do share the dark, matte finish. But the Halo Gray model takes a step further by also sporting the natural titanium shade of the band found on the white color version of the Essential Phone. The matte finish and titanium band should make for a unique but elegant color combo.
Exterior design aesthetics aside, the Halo Gray version of the Essential Phone is also a one of a kind model on account of the fact that it features Amazon’s Alexa pre-installed (but removable, of course) in the app drawer.
Just like the Copper Black, Ocean Depths, and Stellar Gray versions of the Essential Phone, the Halo Gray variant is a limited edition release only, which means that it will likely be made available until supplies last (probably not for very long). So for interested parties, better head to its official Amazon product page now.
Right now, Essential is saying that it will not be launching other new colors for its flagship device anytime soon. The biggest reason, of course, is that it is starting to get busy with the development of the Essential Phone’s successor. The company has not provided any clues yet as to what features we can expect from the next generation Essential Phone, or when we can expect the device to get released.
