In the months leading up to the official unveiling of Samsung’s flagship devices for this year (the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus), many industry watchers and consumers alike were wondering if the South Korean phone maker would be able to fully recover from its Galaxy Note 7 mess last year. But after the latest Galaxy models were formally announced, most of that doubt has been transformed into praise. As far as specifications and features are concerned, the Galaxy S8 phablets are truly impressive smartphone offerings, and barring another Galaxy Note 7-ish disaster, the newest addition to the Galaxy lineup of devices are sure to be worldwide hits.
Well, Samsung has disclosed some information regarding the preorder sales for the Galaxy S8 devices, and so far, the numbers are very, very good. As a matter of fact, the South Korean tech giant has claimed that Galaxy S8’s preorders were the best ever for any Samsung made smartphone device, which is definite proof that despite the Galaxy Note 7 setback last year, consumers still trust the brand enough to purchase its latest releases in droves.
Indeed, Samsung has indicated that for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus phablets, preorder sales have increased 30 percent as compared to preorder sales of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, last year’s flagship devices. A year ago, the company had claimed that the launch of the Galaxy S7 smartphones was the best ever in the history of its mobile business. It goes without saying that that feat has since been surpassed by this year’s Galaxy S8 handsets.
It bears noting that even though the phone maker has claimed that its Galaxy S8 has the best preorder sales numbers of any Samsung device, the company has not actually released any hard numbers yet. Of course, this means that people will not be able to properly compare Galaxy S8’s numbers yet to fierce rival Apple’s iPhone 7 launch last year. Still, Samsung is expected to release its latest quarterly earnings report in July of this year. By then, everybody will have a better idea of how two of the most popular smartphone models in the world fare against each other.
Meanwhile, consumers who already got their Galaxy S8 devices can look forward to a new software update coming their way soon. And it comes with a fix for something that has plagued some units -- specifically a display screen that appears to be just a bit more red tinted than the usual.
