This should be good news to those who like using smaller iPhone devices -- Apple has decided to boost the storage capacity of the iPhone SE, and then bid farewell to the 16 gigabyte edition of the model. Thus, the iPhone SE will now be made available in either 32 gigabyte or 128 gigabyte options, replacing the previous 16 gigabyte and 64 gigabyte editions. With regards to the pricing, the starter model’s cost will remain the same at $399, while the option with the biggest storage now carries a price of $499, which is about fifty bucks more than the usual.
Apple had released the iPhone SE about a year ago, effectively resurrecting the concept of a 4 inch iPhone, which was first witnessed with the launch of the iPhone 5 around half a decade ago. And while the iPhone SE was a welcome idea, many iOS users still felt that offering an iPhone model at 16 gigabytes was kind of outdated, especially now that more and more users are saving bigger loads of data in their mobile devices. But Apple appears to be beginning to see the light -- shifting the iPhone SE starter model to 32 gigabytes is definitely a step in the right direction.
Apart from saying goodbye to the 16 gigabyte iPhone SE, Apple has also taken the opportunity to say its adieu to the iPad Mini 2. The company has removed this tablet from its official website, which means that that the only Mini now made available for purchase directly from Apple is the iPad Mini 4. The Mini 4 is an impressive tablet, but at $399, it is certainly less affordable than the Mini 2, whose price was at a more manageable $249.
Apple also revealed this week that it is looking to replace the iPad Air 2 with a new 9.7 inch tablet that will simply called the iPad. This new iPad comes with a much more powerful chip (the A9 processor, which replaces the 8X used on the Air 2), and has a starting price of $329 for the 32 gigabyte iPad and then $459 for the 32 gigabyte edition with 4G LTE.
Apple also debuted Clips, which is a new social oriented video editing mobile app. This app basically allows iOS users to edit video footage, plus incorporate effects, captions, and audio to their videos. The app is scheduled for wide release some time next month, and should work on the iPhone 5s and newer iPhone models.
