LG has just unveiled the G4 Beat, a new and more affordable version of its latest flagship device, the LG G4. Positioned as a new midrange alternative to the G4, the LG G4 Beat continues the South Korean phone maker’s recent initiative to introduce brand new variants to its flagship smartphone. Some may remember that in May earlier this year, the company also announced two new variants to the LG G4 -- the G4 Stylus phablet and the budget friendly G4c.
The LG G4 Beat handset generally shares the same design aesthetics of the LG G4 device. However, the G4 Beat comes with a tiny bit reduction in size. Whereas the original G4 comes with a 5.5 inch display screen, the G4 Beat is only equipped with one that measures 5.2 inches. Moreover, the cameras present in the G4 Beat are made more modest compared to the G4. Indeed, the G4 Beat only comes with an 8 megapixel camera on the rear side and a 5 megapixel camera on the front side.
As far as hardware components go, the G4 Beat also sports lower specs than the G4, although an eight core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip at 1.5 GigaHertz is certainly not bad by any measure. This processor is further supported with 1.5 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), plus 8 gigabytes of internal storage.
Still, even though it features slight reductions in specifications, the LG G4 Beat overall still retains the best features of the phone maker’s flagship device. When it was first introduced, the LG G4 was highlighted as a handset that provides value without compromising great features and sound functionality. The LG G4 Beat smartphone does make a good attempt to live up to that despite its rather modest specs.
According to Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG’s mobile division, the company’s goal with the LG G4 Beat was to introduce a smartphone option that not only delivered in terms of display screen, camera, and processing specifications, but also one that offered value to mobile users and still satisfied their modern mobile needs.
The LG G4 Beat smartphone’s pricing will probably be around the range of $440. Although it should be noted that pricing can vary depending on which specific market the device will be sold.
Perhaps the question now is: which key mobile markets will this new offering from LG launch? The LG G4 Beat device is expected to debut in select European and Latin American markets such as France, Germany, and Brazil, among many others. After the initial launch, the smartphone will likely be introduced to other regions across the globe.
