During this year’s IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) tech show being held right now in the city of Berlin in Germany, LG took the opportunity to officially announce its latest flagship phablet offering, the V30 (which also has a V30 Plus variant, as previously rumored). This time around, the South Korean tech giant has chosen to do away with the secondary display present in the earlier V10 and V20 models, and has opted instead to offer an imposing 6 inch organic light emitting diode (OLED) screen.
First, let us tackle the basic specifications -- the aforementioned 6 inch OLED display comes in Quad HD with an aspect ratio of 18:9, a resolution of 1,440 by 2,880 pixels, and a pixel density of 537 ppi. This is complemented with a dual camera set up that consists of a 16 megapixel and a 13 megapixel sensor on the rear side, and a 5 megapixel selfie shooter on the front side.
In terms of hardware specs, LG’s V30 features Qualcomm’s eight core Snapdragon 835 chip set, aided by 4 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) as well as 64 gigabytes of built in storage (128 gigabytes for the V30 Plus variant). The phablet is powered by Google’s Android 7.1.2 Nougat mobile operating system and packs a non-removable 3,300 mAh battery.
LG has done well in publishing certain specs of the V30 ahead of its formal unveiling. In the weeks prior, we already know that the device is equipped with digital filters as well as four present sound settings, a 6 inch OLED display screen, the largest aperture of any flagship smartphone release in the market today, and facial and voice recognition unlocking features. But now that the V30 is officially introduced, it will be easier for LG’s fans to digest every spec and feature.
Moreover, the LG V30 will have the distinction of being the first device to have support for T-Mobile’s new 600 MegaHertz spectrum. Around three weeks ago, the third biggest wireless carrier in the United States had announced its intention to cover more than a million square miles with its 600 MegaHertz offering. So far, no device currently made available in the market had come with support for the mobile operator’s spectrum, but that should change with the arrival of the V30. Although no details regarding pricing and availability have been released yet for LG’s latest addition to its V lineup of phablet devices, a recent report from Pocket-lint did mention that T-Mobile will start to accept preorders for the handset this coming September 17th.
