Hardcore Android fans could see Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus make their debut sooner than anticipated. As indicated in a report recently published by VentureBeat, the South Korean phone maker’s 2018 flagship devices will be unveiled during next year’s Consumer Electronics Show, which is scheduled to kick of on January 11th in the city of Las Vegas in Nevada.
Earlier this year, the world’s biggest vendor of smartphone devices had first introduced its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus handsets back in March. But if next year’s Galaxy S9 flagships will make an appearance at the CES 2018, then it would mark a sort of departure from the usual practice for Samsung. Still, it is quite possible that Samsung will only be teasing the Galaxy S9 devices at next year’s CES event, as opposed to bringing a fully working demo, and then make the official announcement weeks or months after.
Samsung’s supporters should have plenty of reason to get excited about next year’s flagship offerings. There is talk that the Galaxy S9 Plus will be equipped with more random access memory (RAM) specs and a dual camera set up, that is, on top of its generous display screen real estate. Moreover, the new devices will almost certainly be fitted with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chip set.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s fierce rival Apple will also be reportedly busying itself preparing to launch a follow up to last year’s iPhone SE. Indeed, according to a report recently published by the China Economic Daily, an iPhone SE 2 is said to be in the works, and is rumored to be scheduled for wide release by July of next year.
The iPhone SE 2 is speculated to feature the same 4 inch display screen as the iPhone SE, but will come with a significantly higher price at $450. Considering that the iPhone SE only fetches for $349, some folks may be thinking that the iPhone SE 2 will likely have enhanced specifications and improved features in order to justify its increased pricing.
It is worth remembering that the reports have not been confirmed by Apple yet, which is not surprising at all, given the iPhone maker’s stellar track record of keeping things under wraps until the big reveal. What is for sure is that the company has indeed enjoyed good demand (or at least good enough demand) for its mini iPhone, and is now looking to keep refreshing the iPhone model on a yearly basis.
