Good news for those with relatives, loved ones, and friends in Cuba -- Sprint and MetroPCS (a prepaid arm of T-Mobile) are introducing new plans that offer cheaper voice calls and text messaging to the Caribbean island nation.
Sprint is launching a brand new international mobile pack specially targeted at subscribers who are looking for less expensive voice calling rates to Cuba. Named Cuba 20 Plus, this latest offering from the carrier is available for $10 a month and can be added on top of the customer's domestic phone plan. It already comes with 20 minutes of free calls from anywhere in the United States to Cuba. Extra calls beyond that will cost customers $0.70 a minute, and they will also get to enjoy unlimited text messaging to Cuba and 180 other countries around the world.
On top of all this, customers who avail of Sprint's Cuba 20 Plus pack will also enjoy free landline and mobile phone calls to Canada and Mexico, as well as discounted voice call rates to 180 destinations across the globe.
As for customers of T-Mobile's MetroPCS, they will be delighted to know that the prepaid wireless service provider is now including Cuba in its $10 World Calling pack. Similar to what Sprint is doing with its Cuba 20 Plus pack, MetroPCS will be providing customers with 20 minutes of free calls to Cuba, plus unlimited text messaging.
Apart from these basic inclusions, the pack also comes with unlimited calls to landlines, as well as 200 minutes of calls to mobile phones, from anywhere in the US to 75 countries. The pack also includes unlimited international texting. For customers who are based outside America, they will get 200 minutes of free calls from a select list of countries to the US, plus 200 free text messages. Any customer who under a MetroPCS $50 or $60 monthly plan is eligible to avail of the World Calling pack.
This is not the first time that wireless carriers are offering special deals for mobile users with connections in Cuba. As a matter of fact, back in April earlier this year, Boost Mobile (a prepaid arm of Sprint) launched its Cuba Monthly Connect. Starting at $50 a month, Boost Mobile's plan offers unlimited calls, unlimited text messaging, and unlimited data, plus 15 minutes of voice calling to Cuba. It also comes with unlimited text messaging from any location within the US.
