It seems that Sprint is currently testing a new special offer that bundles four lines of service that provide unlimited data with a Sling TV subscription, absolutely free of charge. Although it should be noted that the major US wireless carrier is only making this promotional deal available to its current and new subscribers who are based in the cities of Chicago in Illinois and Atlanta in Georgia.
Specifically, Sprint is looking to give a free subscription of Dish Network’s Sling TV linear streaming offering to customers who decide to get an additional four or more lines of service on the mobile operator’s Unlimited Freedom option. Although the Sling TV service being bundled is the cheapest one (Orange), this tier still comes with over 30 streaming TV channels such as ESPN, CNN, Disney, and HGTV, just to name a few. As for subscribers of Sprint who do not have four lines of unlimited data, they will get to enjoy a discount of $3 on Sling TV options.
Also, it is worth mentioning that the Orange option from Sling TV will be offered free of charge to customers until May of 2018, when the price will increase to $17 a month. Moreover, Sprint outlets are also offering a Roku Express for a price of $29.99 (non-discounted) as part of the special bundle offer.
As explained by Kathleen Dunleavy, spokesperson for Sprint, testing new offers or prices is nothing new for the wireless carrier. As for this latest bundle trial, the goal here is to have interested mobile users have a taste of Sling TV on Sprint’s network, and to expand the entertainment options for Sprint subscribers.
This new promo from Sprint should further sweeten its unlimited data option, which is by far perhaps the most affordable across the country. Before, the mobile operator had charged $60 a month for a single line of service on its unlimited plan. But Sprint has since lowered that pricing by $10 per month last February in order to be able to entice customers with unlimited data for just $50 a month. Now compare that with AT&T, which charges $90 a month for one line of service with unlimited data (albeit, it also offers a $60 plan that throttles connection speeds at 3 mbps), and T-Mobile, which charges $70 a month (although that pricing already covers taxes and fees). As for the Big Red, Verizon Wireless recently launched an $80 a month Verizon Unlimited plan for one line of service.
