The third biggest wireless carrier in America has taken the opportunity to debut a brand new premium device protection option for its subscribers. As indicated in T-Mobile’s website, its Premium Device Protection Plus plan basically provides McAfee security, as well as ID protection and help desk tech support. This new plan also comes with AppleCare services (more on this later), data protection against viruses, malware and other online or software threats, plus handset protection coverage for damages of the accidental kind, theft, and hardware service.
Interested parties should be aware though that the Premium Device Protection Plus plan comes with a price of $12 or $15 per month, with the costs varying depending on which handset the plan is applied. The new plan will go live this coming May 7th, and is open to subscribers who are purchasing a new smartphone and getting an additional line of service. Also, it bears noting that device protection normally only applies within an “eligibility” period, which in most cases is usually within a couple of weeks (14 days to be exact) of purchase.
For those who want to explore other options, know that T-Mobile also has a number of other device protection plans, ranging from the most simple $10 per month option, to the more expanded $15 per month protection plan, plus with an option for early device upgrades by way of the new JUMP! Plus. With JUMP! Plus, customers get to upgrade their device whenever they like. JUMP! Plus is open to subscribers under T-Mobile ONE, Simple Choice, T-Mobile ONE No Credit Check and Simple Choice No Credit.
On the topic of AppleCare services, some may remember that back in March early this year, it was reported that AppleCare was already included in T-Mobile’s premium insurance plans, free of charge. This meant that subscribers who are buying a new iPhone device or an iPad tablet will be covered under AppleCare, that is if they also choose to sign up under any Premium Device Protection plan.

AppleCare basically offers 24/7 access to Apple’s tech support, as well as services such as battery service (free of charge), software support for iOS, iCloud and Apple branded iOS mobile apps, and discounts on service fees, including $29 for repairs on damaged displays screens for iPhone devices. Technically speaking, AppleCare is actually part of the iPhone maker’s one year limited warranty for smartphones and tablet devices (including the Apple Watch).
