Back in October of last year, there were reports that T-Mobile’s Jump! On Demand program was no more. Apparently, this is not the case because the third biggest wireless carrier in the United States is actually updating the program, albeit quietly. This time around, the mobile operator is now allowing its subscribers to upgrade to a new handset every 30 days.
This is a cool update because previously, customers were only allowed to upgrade to a new phone up to three times every year. It goes without saying that this new update will favor those who get bored with a device easily, and for those who end up not liking the handset they choose, they can enjoy the option of upgrading soon, if they can just afford to wait for a month.
So how do people get to take advantage of this recent update? For those who are not yet subscribers of T-Mobile, they will obviously need to enter into an 18 month agreement with the major US wireless carrier. By doing so, they get the option to upgrade to a new device every 30 days by way of the Jump! On Demand program. Let it be clear though that they can expect to deal with various fees, credit approvals, and the price of the handset they prefer. Also, T-Mobile technically remains the owner of the phone they choose to upgrade to.
As for existing subscribers of another T-Mobile plan, they can still avail of Jump! On Demand by trading in their old handset when they sign up for the program. They should remember though that the new device they get will depend on the credit they get for the trade in arrangement. Moreover, customers who do decide to trade in or upgrade their handset every 30 days via the Jump! On Demand program must note that the new phone they choose must be a different model or have a different memory configuration. Users can opt to buy the new handset if they do not want to keep upgrading every month, and perhaps just wait for a really cool new device later. All they need to do is pay off any remaining payments.
Many will view the ability to upgrade every 30 days as an attractive offer. The deal does appear to be ideal for certain folks, especially those whose job is to try out and review every new smartphone release that comes along. But there may be some who might not feel super comfy with the thought that they are not actually the owners of the handset they are upgrading to, while others may feel like T-Mobile is tricking them into being tied to a contract forever. For those who fear that type of commitment, they should know that they can always exercise the option for lease termination, or purchase the device right there and then, or choose to end their relationship with T-Mobile altogether.
