T-Mobile just unveiled a brand new iteration of its Jump! upgrade program. This time, the carrier is introducing Jump! On Demand, which allows its subscribers to upgrade their handsets up to three times every year.
Set to go live on June 28th of this year, T-Mobile's new Jump! On Demand program basically lets subscribers upgrade to a new handset for $0 down, and then pay zero sales tax with qualifying credit, followed by regular device payments on a monthly basis. As mentioned earlier, subscribers are given a chance to upgrade multiple times within a period of twelve months, as much as 3 times in one year. In order to upgrade to a new handset, subscribers will be required to bring in their old smartphones. The old device they surrender must be in good working condition though, or else they will not be able to upgrade to a new one. Also, it should be noted that T-Mobile is getting rid of the $10 per month program fee previously tied to Jump!, and is also taking out insurance. This means that if subscribers want to avail of insurance, they will have to pay an additional $8 every month.
Jump! On Demand essentially grants subscribers the opportunity to upgrade any time they please. But if they have completed 18 months worth of payments on their handsets, they can make a final payment that covers the remaining balance of their device's full retail cost, and then keep the handset for good. Furthermore, subscribers who want to pay off their Jump! On Demand plan can do so any time by completing the remaining payments in advance, and then get to keep their handset without getting penalized.
As for subscribers currently under Jump!, they can get a new handset through Jump! On Demand the next time they elect to upgrade. Plus, they will not need to pay the additional $10 monthly fee. Note that in the standard Jump! program, subscribers will be required to pay $10 a month as well as sales taxes incurred in buying the device. Also, before they can upgrade, subscribers need to pay off at least half of the cost of their handset.
Speaking of handsets, what devices are included in Jump! On Demand? For now, the program is only available for Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung's Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note 4, and LG G4. T-Mobile has stated that it will be adding more smartphones to the existing list of qualified handsets.
Also, T-Mobile also announced that for a limited time only, subscribers can grab a 16 gigabyte edition of the iPhone 6 for $15 a month via Jump! On Demand when they trade in their existing handset. Compared to other monthly installment plans offered by other wireless carriers, $15 a month is certainly not bad.
