Apple recently released a new security feature that will protect the devices of its high-profile users. The new security feature, called Lockdown Mode, is said to prevent targeted attacks on celebrities and politicians who are using iOS devices.
The new feature is available as an update on iOS 16, iPad OS 16, and MacOS Ventura. It will protect the data on state-backed spyware and other attacks. Upon activating this security feature, Apple will be able to protect its users through these measures:
Message attachments other than images are disabled. Link previews will also be disabled.
Web technologies like just-in-time (JIT) Javascript compilation will be disabled.
Wired connections from iPhone to PC or other accessories are blocked
Incoming service requests and Apple-related invitations are block unless a prior request or call was made
Configuration profiles can’t be installed or enrolled in mobile device management
With this new security measure, there is less chance for fraudsters to install spyware on an iPhone.
Apple promised that more features will be added to Lockdown Mode in the future.
