AT&T is getting ready to offer more versions of its 5G network.
Earlier today, the carrier unveiled 5G+. According to the carrier, this network comes from spectrum called C-Band, which means faster speeds for streaming, uploading, and downloading content. And for those in the tech industry, this network means room for more innovative development.
With AT&T’s new 5G+ network, there is a lot of room for making gaming and sporting events more immersive. There’s the option of being able to enjoy a private concert with your favorite artist from your own room. The possibilities are endless.
Right now, AT&T offers two types of 5G-- ultra-responsive, ultra-fast 5G+ over high band mmWave spectrum and 5G over the low band Sub-6GHz. The former is already live in parts of 39 cities and over 20 venues and entertainment districts. The latter, on the other hand, is more available throughout the country.
The carrier acquired 80MHz of C-Band spectrum from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in February. With this, AT&T is confident that it will help improve its 5G network and make it deliver faster and increased connectivity.
To help with its C-Band spectrum deployment, AT&T has signed a five-year agreement with Ericsson and Nokia. They are also confident about launching this spectrum in December.
