For the first time, Fairphone will be making its smartphone available in the US soil.
The Dutch manufacturer is a social enterprise that creates sustainable and “conflict-free” smartphones. As a sustainable device, these phones are repairable to ensure they don’t go into the trash right away.
With today’s announcement, Fairphone will be offering the Fairphone 4, which will be sold at Murena. This also means the Fairphone 4 will run Murena’s /e/OS software, which is known as a “deGoogled” Android device.
As for the Fairphone 4’s specs, it comes with a 6.3-inch display with FHD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. From within, the device is powered by a Snapdragon 750G chip with a choice between 6GB of RAM/128GB onboard storage or 8GB of RAM/256GB onboard storage.
Camera-wise, the device has two 12-megapixel cameras on the back. In front, there is a 25-megapixel camera. It also comes with a 3,905mAh battery with 20W fast charging support. The phone is available in green or gray color, with a price that starts at $630. It also comes with a 5-year warranty and a 10/10 Repairability score by iFixit.
In the US, the Fairphone 4 is recommended for use with T-Mobile’s network since it supports T-Mo’s 41 and 71 bands. The device also comes with an IP54 dust/water certification rating. All materials used in the phone are responsibly sourced and conflict-free, which has earned it the Fairtrade Gold certification.
