Just a few days ago, Google Pixel 6 users complained about experiencing phantom calls being made by their phones. Before that, there were issues reported with its display flickering. And today, we’re getting word of another issue that Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users are dealing with. This time around, Pixel 6 users have reported experiencing issues with their fingerprint scanner.
Previously, users complained about a lag in their fingerprint scanner. But now, it looks like the fingerprint scanner allows anyone to unlock the device even if that fingerprint is not registered on the device.
A Reddit user recently shared his experience with his newly purchased Pixel 6. According to him, his device is registered only to him. Despite this, his wife was “able to open the phone using her index finger.” The device owner even shared that he already tried wiping his screen protector but his wife’s finger continues to unlock his phone successfully.
On Reddit, some users shared their theories on what was causing this to happen. While some pointed to a problem with the sensor, others can’t help but think that the device is recording “whatever it sees on the underside of the screen protector.”
Another user also shared his experience with his brother getting access to his Pixel 6. And while there are some instances of two people having similar fingerprints, it is far too rare to be the case with these users.
Right now, Google has not yet responded to this issue. But knowing Google, they will likely work on a fix right away. Hopefully, this is the last of the issues that Google Pixel 6 users will encounter.
