Google really wants iOS users to switch to Android. One way it is encouraging this is with its newly launched iOS app for easy switching.
Switching to an Android from an iOS device can be very tiring. There’s a lot of things you need to do to make sure you don’t lose any valuable contact or file. And Google knows how time-consuming this process is. This is why they have silently released an iOS app that makes this process much easier.
The app called “Switch to Android” is a pretty straightforward app. Even though the app has been on the App Store since Monday, Google did not promote its release.
With the app, you can choose the data you want to move to a new Android device. You can choose from your photos, videos, iMessages, SMS messages, music, contacts, and calendar events. The best part about this is that you don’t need to use any wires or cables to make the transition. The migration simply happens within the app.
Unfortunately, the app does not migrate your iOS apps. You will have to individually look for your commonly used apps and download the Android version on your new phone.
The Switch to Android app works with iPhone models running iOS 8.0 or newer. It is compatible with Android models from Android 5.0 and higher.
