Now that MobileX is available in more than 3,700 Walmart stores, it hopes to further expand its retail footprint with a new indirect dealer program.
MobileX is a prepaid MVNO that uses Verizon’s networks. The brand was launched by Peter Adderton in September 2023. If his name sounds familiar to you, that’s because he also founded Boost Mobile.
Ever since the Sprint/T-Mobile merger, Adderton shared that he has been fighting for dealers since they are “an essential part of the ecosystem.” With the merger, a lot of Sprint dealers had to close up their stores.
Adderton says that MobileX is “one of the few remaining independent MVNOs in the industry” and that the brand will allow dealers to “diversify and protect their revenue streams.”
Once the indirect dealer program rolls out, MobileX will be available in these stores. They will also be allowed to be sold next to other prepaid brands. They plan to roll this out by the end of 2024.
