Netflix Games is finally ready for iOS and iPadOS users. This makes the new gaming service available to Apple users after it initially launched on Android.
In order to access the gaming service, you will need to have a Netflix subscription. Right now, there are only five games that are available for iOS users. These games include Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things: The Game, Teeter (Up), Shooting Hoops, and Card Blast. Another game, Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story, will be coming to Netflix subscribers soon.
As reported by The Verge, there were some concerns on the iOS rollout. This is particularly because of the App Store policies that previously got in the way of other gaming services and platforms. This policy prevented any app to act as a storefront for apps. This was previously experienced by other gaming platforms like Nvidia Geforce Now, Microsoft xCloud, Facebook Gaming, and Google Stadia.
Hopefully, Apple gives Netflix an easier time with its policy. And as seen in internal emails that were discovered in May, the possible concessions were discussed with Apple. One option that was reportedly discussed was for Netflix to continue selling subscriptions in the app so that Apple could earn a percentage from its sales. Google is alleged to also give Netflix a break and take less than the standard 30% commission from the purchases done through Google Play billing.
