The number of options for streaming platforms are pretty much endless. But of course, signing up for an account on each platform requires a paid subscription. Not only that, you always have to worry about increasing fees, like what Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV+ recently did. Because of this, you need to only pick out a few platforms to subscribe to.
Thankfully, Verizon is planning to offer a discounted bundle containing popular streaming services. As The Wall Street Journal reported, Big Red plans to offer a bundled ad-supported tier of Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max. With this bundle offer in place, you’ll only have to pay $10/month instead of $17/month, which you would normally pay for the two services separately.
While this is an unusual practice, there seems to be a benefit to it. This is what Verizon was able to notice with its +play marketplace. Through this portal, Verizon has played a part in reducing defections. Big Red says it is “a smash hit among customers and great for our content partners with churn among our customers down 60-70% compared to the average.”
As of this writing, this is still something that Verizon is working on. Neither of the three companies have not yet responded to calls for a comment on the matter. Hopefully, Verizon explains the bundle model further and works out the revenue arrangement with the two companies.
