Verizon has some good news to customers waiting for an update on its Rich Communication Services (RCS). Even though the wireless provider was already able to launch its own “Advanced Messaging” service, users were waiting for them to offer the service on Google’s Jibe platform as AT&T and T-Mobile do.
Thankfully, this is about to change with Verizon’s recent announcement on Twitter/X.
In the announcement, Big Red revealed that they will be making the transition to Google’s Jibe platform. This means they will also be adopting Rich Business Messaging (RBM) so that businesses can send important messages directly to the device of their customers, like an airline boarding pass.
In a report by 9to5Google, this move will address some of the concerns that Verizon customers had on errors in sending/receiving messages. Now that Verizon will be using Jibe Cloud and Jibe Hub, interoperability between RCS networks and carrier management services should be much simpler. It is also expected to provide seamless communication across carriers, which is always a win for every customer.
Right now, there’s no word on when the shift will happen, but we’ll likely get another update once Verizon is ready to roll it out.
