Another rugged smartphone has landed on Verizon Wireless’ device lineup. After rolling out the Kyocera DuraForce Pro 3 a few days ago, Big Red welcomes a new rugged smartphone from Sonim, called XP10.
As noted by PhoneScoop, this device comes with features intended for use by field workers and those in “dangerous environments.” But the device isn’t exactly a newly rolled out model. In fact, AT&T already released this device in November.
The model available on Verizon comes as a 4G device. It has a MIL-STD-810H rating for drops, water immersion, and all weather conditions. It’s also said that the device can be “sprayed, submerged and rigorously cleaned in soap and water or with harsh chemicals, like isopropyl alcohol or bleach, to ensure it is fully disinfected.” Since the device is marketed for use in dangerous work environments, it comes with Non-Incendive Class I, II and III Div 2 rating.
The other features of the device include a 5.5-inch display, Qualcomm Pro with 6GB of RAM, 128GB onboard storage, and up to 1TB microSD card memory. It also includes wireless charging, a removable 5,000mAh battery, fingerprint reader, NFC, and PTT+. There are two cameras on the back: a 50-megapixel standard camera and an 8-megapixel wide camera. In front, there is another 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
Verizon is offering the Sonim XP10 for Verizon business customers for $550. But for a limited time period, you can get your hands on a free Sonim XP10 under a two-year agreement. Business customers can also get a discounted device for only $0.99 with a two-year agreement.
