Google recently rolled out the Android 14 update to older Pixel models. While those who are using the latest OS version with the new Pixel 8 smartphone report a positive experience, the same cannot be said for those with older devices.
Users turned to GooglePixel subreddit and Pixel Phone Help community to report a serious storage bug affecting their Pixel devices. According to such users, they are no longer able to access their files after upgrading to Android 14 OS. One user also reported that his internal storage dropped to 4GB from 128GB. There are also reports of a “Download failed” or “Device out of storage” error whenever a picture is taken, a file is accessed, or apps are installed/uninstalled. Some devices also crash whenever users attempt to open the storage section on the settings.
According to PhoneArena, users who attempted to get in touch with Google have not been able to get any help as they were told to restart their device, wipe out the device, or even consider warranty replacement. Of course, the latter is no longer an option for such devices.
The issue has not yet been acknowledged by Google. We’re hoping that it gets addressed soon so that a bug fix can be released.
