Motorola recently revealed a new software update for the Moto G. With this latest development, the Moto G will not only be updated with the newest version of Android mobile operating system (Androi 4.4.4 KitKat), it will also get new features, improvements, and even bug fixes.
The phone maker further stated that the said new software update is available to all users of the Moto G under Boost Mobile. Immediately after the software update, users should be able to take advantage of certain enhancements.
Chief among these enhancements is the Android 4.4.4 KitKat upgrade. This is the latest version released by the Android team. This new version features accuracy improvements to the power profile, as well as a number of fixes in stability, security, and framework, plus update to OpenSSL.
Another feature included in Motorola's software update is pause video recording. This enhancement essentially enables users to pause while recording videos, using a Pause/Resume button found on the viewfinder.
The latest software update also includes a new and improved phone dialler. This time around, the phone dialler comes with a fresh new look -- incorporating an enhanced layout and more colors to achieve more consistency and easy usability.
Lastly, there is the new Motorola Alert app, which can now be downloaded from the Google Play Store, and installed to the Moto G. Users can take advantage of the Motorola Alert app in sending regular alerts (with location) to selected contacts.
To install the update, Motorola is recommending users to make sure their phones are sufficiently charged (at least 50 percent), and that there is a decent Wi-Fi network connection. Upon receiving the update notification, users need only select "Download", and then select "Install now" when the download is complete. After the software has been successfully installed, the Moto G should restart on its own.
For those who fail to receive update notifications, they just need to go to the Apps menu and select Settings > About Phone > System updates > Download. Once the download is complete, installing should be straightforward from then on.
