Google has long been known for delaying when it releases its Android upgrades. This is something that Apple has since been able to figure out and regularly push iOS updates. Apart from the long wait for an Android OS update, the affordable devices rarely get an update at all.
Thankfully, Google seems to be rectifying this problem with its new update framework called Project Treble. Earlier today, Google unveiled that Treble will soon be available on all devices that launch with Android 9 Pie or later OS.
The tech giant announced this via a blog post. They shared that they expect more devices to launch with Android 9 Pie before 2018 ends. Just as they claimed last year, Google believes that this number will be more than the amount of Android Oreo-operating devices in 2017. Although this is a similar remark they made a year ago, it looks like Google is serious about it now that Project Treble is ready.
With the help of Project Treble, Google will be able to close the gaps between OS updates. Back in February, Google had revealed that Nougat was the most-used Android OS released. Surprisingly, the reveal was already 17 months after it debuted in summer 2016.
By including Project Treble in the framework of new devices, smartphone users will be able to enjoy better Android versions without waiting too long. And when it comes to new features and security, this is definitely a much needed boost for Android!
