Sprint has announced a new promotion that offers a bundle of the carrier's iPhone and iPad for $100 monthly. The said promo will run from now until April 9th of this year.
Sprint's latest promo combines its existing iPhone for Life and its iPad for Life leasing programs into one bundle, allowing customers to save $17 every month. The offer specifically involves an Apple iPhone 6 and an iPad Mini 3 tablet, both featuring 16 gigabytes of storage, without any upfront costs or activation fees.
Sprint has been visibly more aggressive in its efforts to attract new customers and even bring back those who have since shifted to other wireless carriers. It appears that the carrier is busy positioning itself as a more cost-effective option compared to leaders AT&T and Verizon Wireless. At the same time, Sprint evidently wants to beat T-Mobile at its own game, offering plans and deals that give the most value for budget-conscious folks. Last month, Sprint reported 967,000 new customers for the year 2014. If the carrier wants to keep it up, it definitely needs to be proactive and creative in enticing new subscribers.
To get more Apple customers to join its fold, Sprint introduced its iPhone and iPad leasing programs. In these programs, subscribers can lease iPhone or iPads for a period of 12 or 24 months, and then have the option of either purchasing the mobile devices they leased, upgrade to a newer model, or hand them back to the carrier and end the leasing agreement.
Sprint's iPhone for Life leasing program was a nice alternative option, especially for those who do not want to deal with two-year agreements and subsidized phone plans. Basically, it also functions as an iPhone upgrade program that works well for subscribers who are willing to wait for a couple of years in order to get a new handset.
The leasing program proved to be a hit. Sprint even decided to extend the iPhone for Life program to Android mobile devices and even to tablets.
But with the new iPhone-iPad bundle, customers will have to pay $20 for the iPhone for Life program and $50 for a Simply Unlimited talk, text and data plan for the handset. A separate 2 gigabyte plan that costs $30 per month will be needed for the iPad -- although the $17 monthly fee for the iPad Mini 3 is waived as part of the promo.
