The four biggest wireless carriers in the United States -- Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint -- have decided to help all of its subscribers affected with Hurricane Patricia by completely waiving all fees for international voice calls and text messages between the US and Mexico. Even though the damage caused by Hurricane Patricia was not as bad as initially projected (thankfully, there were no fatalities reported), there is no doubt that a vast number of mobile users based in America are concerned about the wellbeing of their family and friends situated in Mexico. Free international voice calls and text messages for a limited time should allow these affected subscribers to connect with their loved ones directly.
Verizon Wireless
Subscribers under the biggest wireless service provider in the United States will be able to take advantage of free voice calls and text messages to Mexico between now until October 30th of this year. This limited time offer from the Big Red applies to both customers availing of cellular plans and landline subscriptions.
AT&T
AT&T has decided to waive voice calls and text messaging to Mexico from October 23rd until November 5th, from the United States, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands. Also, subscribers who are calling direct to loved ones in Mexico through U-verse voice can also make full use of this offer from AT&T. Moreover, subscribers of the wireless carrier who are roaming in Mexico from October 23 until November 5 will not be charged for any voice calls made or text messages sent back to the United States.
T-Mobile
Subscribers of T-Mobile will be given a chance to make free voice calls and send text messages between the United States and Mexico from October 23rd until November 7th of this year. Those subscribers who have made calls on October 23 will retroactively credited to their account. As for subscribers of the wireless carrier’s Simple Choice plans, they already enjoy free voice calls and text messages to Mexico courtesy of Mobile Without Borders. Customers availing of prepaid and older plans will, however, benefit from the temporarily waived fees. And it should also be noted that T-Mobile’s limited time offer also applies to the subsidiaries of the wireless carrier, which include MetroPCS, GoSmart, and WalMart Family Mobile.
Sprint
For all of its postpaid subscribers, Sprint is allowing free international voice calls and text messaging to Mexico from October 23rd until November 4th. Those subscribers who have elected to incorporate the free Sprint Open World feature in their plan will also get to enjoy free voice calls and text messaging to the United States when they are in Mexico. Plus, they also get 1 gigabyte of free high speed data roaming privileges.
