Preorders for Apple’s newest iPhone models are strong so far, at least at T-Mobile, as revealed by its chief executive officer John Legere. The wireless carrier’s head honcho tweeted recently that preorders for T-Mobile’s iPhone 6s have increased over 30 percent compared to preorders for T-Mobile’s iPhone 6 in the previous year. Legere further shared on Twitter that: “@TMobile customers are pumped” to buy the latest iPhone from Apple.
Preorders for the Apple’s new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices officially opened in the United States last Saturday, September 12th among Apple’s own stores and on the four biggest wireless carriers in the country, namely Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. One week after preorders were accepted for the new iPhones, Apple revealed that initial preorder figures for the devices are very strong across the globe, especially with regards to online orders for the iPhone 6s Plus. The iPhone maker even hinted that this year’s iPhones may beat the initial sales figures of the previous year’s iPhone 6 devices, which sold 10 million units (combined numbers for the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus) upon the first week of availability.
It is no secret that iPhone devices are Apple’s biggest source of revenues. As a matter of fact, iPhones make up two thirds of the company’s total earnings. To ensure profitability, Apple needs to maintain stellar sales figures for its iPhone line of products. But considering 2015 is an “S” year in terms of new iPhone releases, there was a concern that mobile users may not be too enthusiastic in getting the iPhone 6s, especially those who already own an iPhone 6 and really do not see a need for upgrading to the latest model. But still, there are other consumers, particularly those who own even older iPhone models, or Android powered smartphones, who might be thinking of purchasing the iPhone 6s. Apple’s new iPhones officially hit store shelves this Friday, September 25th through Apple’s own retail stores and on major wireless carrier outlets and various third party retail partners all across the US.
Even though Legere did not mention any actual preorder figures for the iPhone 6s, he did share some exciting news for those who are planning to buy the new iPhones. Upon launch date, customers can get the new iPhone 6s for as low as $5, $10, or $15 a month via T-Mobile’s special Jump! On Demand program trade in offer. First announced back in June earlier this year, Jump! On Demand allows subscribers to upgrade to a new handset (up to thrice in a single year) when they surrender their current handset. The price the subscribers pay will depend on which specific model (the iPhone 6s or the iPhone 6s Plus) or variant (16 gigabyte, 64 gigabyte, or 128 gigabyte) they select and which existing handset they decide to trade in.
