Apple has made it official -- this year’s iPhone offering, the iPhone 7, will be formally unveiled this coming September 7th (as previously rumored). It will be happening at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium located in the city of San Francisco in California at exactly 10 AM Pacific Time. As always, Apple fans everywhere can expect Tim Cook, the current chief executive officer of the company, to personally announce the newest iPhone devices himself.
The upcoming event should officially introduce the iPhone 7 and in most likelihood, the iPhone 7 Plus, too. According to rumors that have surfaced in the last few months, the new iPhone 7 devices are said to feature almost identical external designs to Apple’s existing flagship devices, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus. Other rumored features and functionalities include enhanced camera specifications (there is talk that the bigger iPhone 7 Plus may come with a dual camera configuration), and the absence of a headphone jack.
The upcoming September 7 event in San Francisco should also grant Apple the opportunity to once again highlight its iOS 10. This version of the tech giant’s iOS mobile operating system was first announced back in June earlier this year, and it should be deploying to countless iPhone and iPad devices later next month.
On the same day that the latest iPhone 7 devices will debut, Apple’s one and only wearable device, the Apple Watch, might also make an appearance. The smartwatch has not been updated since April of last year, and wearable enthusiasts can expect some new developments come September 7th. Apart from the new operating system (which is heading to all current Apple Watch editions together with the aforementioned iOS 10), industry watchers are looking forward to new fitness related functionalities like the rumored GPS tracking feature that should make the Apple Watch more appealing to fitness buff iOS mobile users. The annual IFA Trade Show is happening a few days from now and several new smartwatches and fitness bands are expected to debut during that event (including Samsung’s new Gear S3), and in order to compete, it is only right that Apple also try to make some noise with regards to its smartwatch offering.
New iPhone 7 devices and Apple Watch developments notwithstanding, Apple might also be planning to unveil a dedicated Home mobile app in iOS 10, which should give the tech giant’s HomeKit connected appliances and home accessories some boost. Moreover, Apple is also rumored to be announcing some new developments for its current line of Mac computers, including MacBook laptops that come with an OLED touch bar, which will probably launch before the end of 2016.
