You probably have heard already about Apple’s very recent official unveiling of iOS 11, the newest version of the company’s iOS mobile operating system. As far as anyone knows, the latest version will likely be rolled out in September later this year. But as early as know, it pays to know which iPhone devices and iPad models will getting updated to iOS 11.
Basically, all Apple devices launched before 2013 will probably not get iOS 11. But just to be sure, Apple has published an official list of compatible devices (scroll down below)

Generally speaking, the models listed above all count as Apple devices that sport the iPhone maker’s A7 processor (or newer). For those who still own an iPhone 5 or an iPhone 5c, this piece of news will not make them happy. Technically speaking, iPhone 5 or iPhone 5c devices should still work, but will remain on iOS 10 forever.
Apart from announcing iOS 11, Apple had also taken the opportunity to formally introduce ARKit, its new augmented reality platform. ARKit is basically Apple’s answer to Google’s Tango, Facebook’s Camera Effects, and Mixed Reality. Of course, there is no doubt that iOS mobile users would want to know too which devices are compatible with ARKit.
Compared to iOS 11, ARKit has a more limited number of compatible devices. These include:

Whereas iOS 11 requires at least an A7 chip, Apple’s ARKit, on the other hand, needs an A9 or A10 processor, which obviously means the models compatible with augmented reality platform lean more towards newer releases. Also, even though some earlier models may be compatible with iOS 11, it does not necessarily mean it is also compatible with ARKit.
