Days before the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) is set to happen in the beautiful city of Barcelona in Spain, LG is busy trying to generate buzz for its products. For instance, about a week ago, the South Korean phone maker introduced a touch enabled cover for its LG G5 smartphone. This is interesting because the LG G5 device has not been unveiled yet, although the tech giant is expected to officially announce it a day before MWC starts. And just this week, LG also took the opportunity to reveal its latest phablet offering, the LG Stylus 2, a sort of follow up to the LG G4 Stylus device released in May of last year.
Also being unveiled this week by LG are a couple of new midrange mobile devices. Like the LG G5, both these latest smartphone offerings will be featured in the biggest tech conference for mobile happening a few days from now.
The first midrange device is the X Cam. This handset has the distinction of having twin cameras on its rear side. As explained by LG, the X Cam is set to provide the most advanced camera experience when it comes to midrange smartphones available in the market. Of course, because the South Korean mobile manufacturer is kind of fond of teasing, not much is yet known about the X Cam device.
But there are rumors circulating that the X Cam could come with support for optical zoom. This is the same feature that is also rumored to be included in Apple’s upcoming flagship device, the iPhone 7. Basically, it is a feature that makes use of two cameras, and has the ability to capture better image quality, not to mention possess super accurate zooming capabilities.
As for the other midrange smartphone offering from LG, the X Screen handset -- it comes with a second 1.76 inch display screen that sits above the device’s primary 4.9 inch display screen. Moreover, this second display screen has an “always on” feature. Yup, this is the same “always on feature” on the LG V10 device and the one referred to by LG more than a week ago, when it posted a teaser animated image of the upcoming LG G5 smartphone on its official Facebook web page. For the benefit of those who missed that piece of news, the “always on” feature basically shows mobile users data such as the date and time, battery level, and notifications, and it displays all of these without having to make the user press any button to activate the device’s home screen.
