Nowadays, a smartphone's camera plays a vital role on how marketable the device will be. Since most smartphone users today are active on photo sharing apps like Instagram and Facebook, it is perfectly understandable why many are looking for a phone that comes with a capable camera. So when OnePlus made an announcement on its partnership with DxO, it came as a delightful surprise to many.
According to a report recently published by SamMobile (which cited South Korea based tech website Naver), Samsung’s upcoming flagship device, the Galaxy S8, is said to be capable of shooting video footage at 1,000 frames per second (fps).
Samsung recently tweeted that the Exynos 9, its new processor offering, will have support for dual camera smartphones. This is made possible through the South Korean mobile giant’s Dual ISP (Image Signal Processor) technology. Dual camera configurations are nothing new, of course.
The quality of cameras on mobile devices have taken a huge leap of improvement over the last decade or so. Indeed, smartphone cameras nowadays are so good that various filmmakers have already tried (and succeeded) in shooting movies using their own iPhone devices. And now thanks to a new technology from Sony, capturing video footage via one’s handsets will continue to get even better.
Smartphones with dual camera configurations are making waves in this year’s Consumer Electronic Show currently being held in the Entertainment Capital of the World. There was Huawei’s Honor 6X and Asus’ ZenFone 3 Zoom, which both made their debuts in CES 2017.
With the roll out of iOS 10.1, Apple has brought the Portrait mode to owners of the iPhone 7 Plus. The Portrait mode was actually already made available in beta, allowing a limited number of iPhone 7 Plus users to take images with a bokeh effect (blurred background). But with the latest update from Apple, this particular feature can now be experienced by every iPhone 7 Plus owner.
Recently this week, a fresh beta version of iOS 10, the newest iteration of Apple’s iOS mobile operating system, was rolled out to developers, and it comes with a Portraits feature, which is designed to help users capture better portrait shots, according to a report published by MacRumors.
Xiaomi is said to be readying to officially unveil its new Mi 5s smartphone some time later this year. This flagship device from the Chinese phone maker is expected to come with lots of new features, which include a pressure sensitive display screen as well as an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Well, there is some new speculation that Xiaomi’s Mi 5s device will also be fitted with dual cameras on its rear side.
Considering that it has only been four months since Samsung introduced its Galaxy S7 flagship, we may not see its follow up, the Galaxy S8, until next year, probably in the first quarter of 2017 (likely in the month of February). Still, it is never too early for speculation, and a pair of rumors are already circulating in the Interwebs regarding the much anticipated Android powered handset.
