More than a couple of weeks ago, Huawei had confirmed the existence of its latest midrange phablet offering -- the Honor 7X. Despite publishing the specifications and features of the newest addition to the Chinese phone maker’s Honor lineup of budget friendly devices, no details were mentioned with regards to pricing and availability.
Boy, that was fast. Apple started accepting preorders for its highly awaited iPhone X at 12:01 AM Pacific Time earlier today, and those who were among the first to preorder got a shipping date of November 3rd (the official launching date of the flagship device). But after just 10 minutes, the shipping dates of preordered units quickly began lengthening to two or even three weeks. By 12:30 AM, virtually all shipping dates have stretched to four or five weeks, depending on which specific model configuration and on which wireless service provider.
Xfinity Mobile, the wireless service of Comcast, has recently announced that it will start accepting preorders for Apple’s soon to launch iPhone X starting on October 27th through its official website and via its Xfinity Store locations. On November 3rd, the device will hit the carrier’s store shelves at 8 AM local time.
Nokia and BlackBerry were once two of the biggest mobile phone brands in the world, but the rise of smartphone giants such as Samsung and Apple in recent years has since seen Nokia and BlackBerry lose their previously untouchable popularity. But to their credit, both brands are still around and selling devices, or more accurately, licensed their brand names to Android powered handsets.
This week, Google unveiled some really cool new devices, including the next generation Pixel smartphones (the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL). With good reason, much of the buzz has revolved around the Pixel 2 phones, but officially so far, Google has identified Verizon Wireless as the sole launch partner. Having said that, interested buyers can still scour the face of the earth for Pixel 2 deals.
It is official, Google has formally introduced the follow ups to last year’s Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones -- meet this year’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL devices. First, a quick rundown of the basic specs: the Pixel 2 comes with a 5 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,080 by 1,920 pixels (with 441 pixel per inch density). The display is paired with a 12.3 megapixel main camera (with f/1.8 aperture) on the rear side, and an 8 megapixel secondary sensor on the front side.
As far as budget friendly smartphone options are concerned, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus that Motorola had released last year were considered by many as one of the most impressive. This is one of the reasons why there is some excitement brewing for this year’s two upgraded versions -- the Moto G5S and the Moto G5S Plus.
Google has very recently revealed that the Android One powered edition of Motorola’s newest smartphone, the Moto X4, is now made available for preordering from the official website of its Project Fi wireless service. For those not familiar with Android One, it is essentially a super basic version of the world’s most widely used mobile operating system, which means it does not come with the usual bloatware added not only by phone makers but also by mobile operators.
The preorder period for Apple’s iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus devices, as well as its Apple Watch Series 3, has officially started. Not surprisingly, it appears that the demand is comfortably outpacing the supply. The iPhone 8 models and the latest version of Apple’s smartwatch are supposed to be made available next week, specifically on September 22nd, but as recently reported by CNET, the shipping schedule of specific editions of the iPhone 8 devices are now listed as one to two weeks.
