Verizon’s latest Ellipsis 8 tablet follows the footsteps of its predecessor, the Ellipsis 7. As another cheap tablet, the Verizon has made the Ellipsis 8 tablet for its budget conscious market. Despite its low price, the tablet is capable of doing a lot of good for its users. The tablet has an 8.1-inch screen that provides 1280x800 HD display, which makes it large enough for being able to run different games and apps without sacrificing the size of the screen. Equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, the Ellipsis 8 tablet is powerful enough to support the latest Android updates. At the time of purchase, the tablet will run on Android Kitkat 4.4, which means it is compatible to run the latest apps and games. With a built-in 5,000mAh battery, the tablet is able to provide up to 14 hours of use. The tablet also comes with an internal storage space of 16GB but can still be expanded through its microSD card slot. Connecting to the internet can be done through Wi-Fi connection, tethering or through XLTE using the device’s SIM card. Because of this, users can easily connect to the internet even if there is no Wi-Fi connection around. Complete with a 5MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front-facing camera, the Ellipsis 8 promises to be a functional device for its price.
This ellipses 8 tablet has been one of the most frustrating experiences I have had with technology. This tablet was sold to me when I was at the Verizon store to replace a phone. I tend to keep my phone / gadgets a long time because I use them for so much and I take care of them so I get attached to them. This tablet was offered to me on sale and I had been thinking of buying a tablet so I thought well sure why not. This tablet being the upgraded version of the ellipsis 7, it was supposedly a better screen and I assumed it being the next generation that any bugs would have been worked out. After having it a little over a week I had become so frustrated by things that I knew it was really buggy. It started with things such as the external speakers going out if you plugged in headphones and then removed them and headphones not working or cutting off the mike too soon when you are speaking a search of less than 10 words. Then constant multiple windows closing suddenly for no reason, having to reboot the tablet to get sound back, having the touchscreen magnify a random area other than the one you were touching when it's selected, selecting another thing in a list of text than what you are touching, windows freezing up, not responding when touched in a particular area , the cursor constantly going other than where you're trying to put it in the text etc etc. After several days of frustration I went to the Verizon store to return it and was told that I had to take another tablet to avoid the restocking fee of 75 or 80 dollars even though the store manager had seen the tablet malfunctioning. I said I did not want another one because I already had cold feet from the first one neong so buggy but after being assured that this was the one in a million bad egg in the bunch I took another one. The second tablet also had a multitude of problems, mostly related to touch screen not working correctly, the same cursor problems and lots of freezing issues, not being to do basic functions properly. I had to pay for a Christmas present with a stored payment method I did not want to use when I was not able to enter a new credit card on a major site as the drop-down menus refused to allow me to scroll and then I lost tickets because of having the time run out as I tried over and over trying to get the window to allow my state to be entered in the dropdown. Problems with text not appearing even remotely correctly with speech to text, again windows do not shift when you try to switch between them and instead become partially blurry, freeze , go blank etc. Zooming for no reason, auto rotate issues, Forget about putting the cursor where you want. Ultimately this second tablet has caused me so much frustration trying to do Christmas shopping in the week I have had it that now I am absolutely done with it. called Verizon and explained what had been happening and they say as it's within the 14 days that they should take it back without a restocking fee since it is absolutely malfunctioning just like the first one did. Hope they get it worked out because I do like Verizon very much but this has been totally a waste of my time and very frustrating.
